Evaluation guide

How to evaluate a data pack before you buy

Use this guide to evaluate fit before you buy. It helps you check scope, structure, validation and licensing before requesting a sample or moving to a full pack.

Step 1. Start from the job, not the dataset name

  • What question are you trying to answer?
  • Do you need a current-year signal, a five-year operating pack or a longer research horizon?
  • Which flagship is closest to the workflow you already have in mind?

Step 2. Read scope and horizon carefully

  • Check the time window.
  • Check which series and variants are included.
  • Check whether the pack solves the core part of the job or only a small slice of it.

Step 3. Review methodology and validation

  • Official-source origin is useful, but the value is in cleaning, normalization, documentation and validation.
  • Read the methodology to understand how the pack is built and what is intentionally out of scope.
  • Check the validation layer before trusting the pack as operational input.

Step 4. Match the license to the use case

  • Solo evaluation is not the same as internal team use.
  • Client delivery or redistribution needs explicit scope.
  • If the case is unusual, ask before purchase instead of guessing after delivery.

Four questions to answer before you buy

  1. What job are you trying to solve, and what horizon does it require?
  2. Which series, variants and coverage boundaries actually matter for that job?
  3. Do the methodology and validation layers make the packaged dataset trustworthy enough for your workflow?
  4. Does the license fit the real reuse case before you reach price or checkout?

If one of these questions remains unclear, resolve it before moving forward. That is cheaper than discovering a mismatch after purchase.

What a sample can prove

  • field names and structure
  • general schema and naming logic
  • whether the pack feels reusable for your workflow

What a sample cannot prove by itself

  • full historical depth
  • all delivery assets and documentation detail
  • commercial reuse rights beyond the visible license notes

Choose the next route

If you already know the family and horizon, go to the flagship or sample route. If you still have a fit or reuse question, move to contact or licenses before you buy.
